Global Temperature Rise affects Bird Migration

​Just before New Year, the Guardian reported on a study by researchers at the University of Edinburgh, into the travel times of migratory birds.  Bird migrations are affected by a global rise in temperature.  The study has found that "birds are reaching their summer breeding grounds on average about one day earlier per degree of increasing global temperature". 
​ A worrying fact is that the early arrivals can result in essential food and nesting places not being readily available, which impacts on successful birth and rearing of young - causing a decline in bird populations.  See the full report here. . .
